Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced tax professional to join our team in KPMG Delivery Network ("KDN") in Malaysia in a Senior Manager position for corporate income tax. In this role, you will be responsible for managing client delivery and quality of corporate income tax compliance for countries in Asia Pacific region. You will work closely with clients, KPMG member firms, and KDN teams to deliver client engagements in a client facing capacity with expectation to build strong relationships with these stakeholders. This role will be expected to be the lead KDN country tax practitioner for an assigned jurisdiction to manage KPMG member firms, quality, technical proficiency, process, and escalations.

The role requires deep experience with corporate income tax. Regional/ Global experience would be an asset. As a Manager in the team, knowledge management will be required which includes learning new jurisdictions technical rules, documenting technical/ process learning materials, providing training, and help manage knowledge needs of the team.

The role will involve managing team delivery work deliverables quality & timelines, with focus to uphold quality standards. The person will be expected to lead to strategic projects, and help enable a continuous improvement culture. The successful applicant will need to capture actions and meeting minutes and drive execution of actions across stakeholder group to facilitate completion.

Managers in KPMG are expected to be people leaders, whether they have direct reports or not. This would include feedback, coaching, developing team members, and setting the example of demonstrable leadership behavior!

Business development of working with clients and stakeholders for delivery of new clients/ jurisdictions/ services along with transitioning work to KDN will be an expected part of the role.  

This role will be tasked to contribute to transformation initiatives, continuous improvement enabled by technology, and other growth/ efficiency initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of clients and projects and lead teams to deliver tax compliance services effectively. 
  • Review of corporate tax returns across multiple jurisdictions in the ASPAC region, including all required schedules, deadlines, and technical requirements
  • Build strong relationship with clients, manage pull through opportunities, and ensure the overall client experience is always top quality
  • Manage diverse team members and maintain a high-performing team to deliver exceptional client services across a portfolio of clients 
  • Review and preparation as circumstances dictate of centralized delivery of compliance requirements across multiple services such as Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Statutory Financial Statements, WHT, and other compliance filings.
  • Assist in reviewing reports and schedules using technology tools that will be delivered to client and member firm.
  • Coaching and developing team members to achieve technical competencies and efficient performance.
  • Support transitioning new clients onboard per standard process and technology. 
  • Support transformation initiatives to enable technology adoption across new and existing processes 
  • Act as a liaison between client, external local auditors and member firm
  • Lead and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement & optimize process effectiveness.
  • Lead the meeting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other ad hoc requests required to manage client service.

Requirements :

  • A recognized university degree or a professional qualification in Accounting / Finance / Computer Science / Data Sciences /Economics or a member of a recognized professional accounting /taxation body
  • Candidate with minimum 8+ years of experience with corporate tax compliance.
  • Candidate with audit and/ or financial statement experience will have an advantage.
  • Relevant data/ business analyst experience valued.
  • Must be a team player to work in a robust team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Must be accountable, analytical, self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people.
  • Curiosity and passion to find solutions to client’s needs
  • Highly goal oriented, assertive and a hands-on problem solver.
  • Technology agility is an advantage.
  • Stakeholder management skills are required.
